What the markaz calls to, who advises it and how it grew from a few brothers to a weekly timetable.
What the markaz stands for

Learning first
Every program starts from teaching. Classes are structured, taught by people who have studied, and they are free to attend.

Open to everyone
Anyone may come to an event, sit in on a circle or ask a question. There is no membership, and you do not have to be Muslim to walk in.

Run by the community
Volunteers set the chairs out, teach the classes and lock up. We ask Allāh to accept it from them.
The markaz calls to the Qurʾān and the Sunnah as the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ understood them. Everything here is in service of that one thing.
Its advice is taken from Salafi mashāyikh and students of knowledge who have both knowledge and experience in daʿwah, so what is taught here is not one man’s opinion. Lessons also reach the markaz by tele-link from the mashāyikh abroad.
The children are taught ʿaqīdah and Qurʾān, and alongside them the manners and the etiquette the Prophet ﷺ taught, which stay with a child long after the lesson has ended.
Events through the year give the brothers and the sisters a reason to sit together, and charity programs reach those in the community who are most in need. We ask Allāh to accept it and to put barakah in it.
Our story
How the markaz grew
First
A restaurant in Melbourne
A few brothers, and the intention to teach the Qurʾān and the Sunnah as the Ṣaḥābah understood them.
Then
Burley Griffin Neighbourhood Centre
One class a week, on a Sunday, for children and adults.
Then
Campbellfield Community Centre
More families than the hall could seat, so the markaz moved to a centre where the sisters have their own section.
Now
Four classes and the mashāyikh
Two at the centre and two online, with new books and lessons reaching the markaz by tele-link from abroad.

A base of our own
Classes in the markaz's own rooms, gatherings for the youth and tarāwīḥ in Ramaḍān, in shāʾ Allāh.
Our position
Islam against extremism
The markaz calls to Islam as the Prophet ﷺ taught it and as his Companions understood it, and that leaves no room for extremism or for violence against the innocent. We do not promote extremist groups, and we condemn ISIS, al-Qāʿidah and every group upon their way.

Advised by the people of knowledge
The markaz is advised by senior Salafi mashāyikh and students of knowledge, and the classes are taught from their books and their guidance.
